A Dark Skies walk and talk

A magical night on the marsh at the kick-off event of our Dark Skies Festival.

A lucky few joined us at RSPB Titchwell for our first event of the Dark Skies Festival season 2023-24.
It was a magical night on the marsh where we discovered the beauty of RSPB Titchwell’s dark skies and wildlife. Guests experienced the sights and sounds of nature as some species settled down for the night and others awoke.

During the walk we encountered the small animals and insects that whizz around the reserve as darkness falls. We listened out for the calls of hunting raptors and using mobile bat detectors, searched for pipistrelle and Daubenton’s bats hawking for prey in the twilight. Before the evening was over we saw who had dropped into our light traps and spotted a rare moth or two.

It was the first of 10 free events this winter as part of the Dark Skies Festival, so keep an eye on Eventbrite for more night walks, talks and workshops!
