Norfolk Coast National Landscape Management Plan 2025-30

Consultation process

The Norfolk Coast is a special place – for wildlife and for the people who live, work and visit this area. We’re committed to protecting and enhancing this incredible landscape so that it continues to thrive for generations to come.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve been working with a wide range of partners, and stakeholders – including local authorities, Natural England, environmental organisations, tourism providers, local businesses and community groups – to write a new Management Plan for the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. This document sets out our priorities and ambitions for the area over the next five years.

The public consultation period for the Management Plan 2025-30 has now closed. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback through our online form or at one of our drop-in sessions – your insights are invaluable in guiding our work. We are now in the process of working through all feedback received and updating the draft plan accordingly.

Next steps

The Management Plan will now enter a formal approval process, which will continue until the end of March 2026, and involves all local responsible authorities: Natural England, Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, North Norfolk District Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Norfolk County Council.

We will also be carrying out a Strategic Environmental Assessment and Habitat Regulations Assessment over the next few months. These two reports will assess the environmental impacts of the Management Plan and its potential impacts on the Norfolk Coast National Landscape respectively.

Following the conclusion of these assessments and the formal approval process, we hope to be able to publish the finalised Management Plan in mid-spring. We’ll be posting any updates on this page and our social media channels, so be sure to check back for the latest information.
