Top tips for a fun, safe and memorable experience
Help us care for our coast
We all have a part to play in protecting our Norfolk Coast, and small actions can make a big difference.
Here are some of the ways you can take action for nature.
Give wildlife space
Our coast is home to an incredible array of species, but they all have one thing in common…they need their space! Be sure to keep your distance from resting birds and seals, steer clear of any cordons and follow any signage. Remember that you are sharing your surroundings with many other creatures – even if you can’t see them!
Take the right path
To really escape from it all…please follow the paths! It may be tempting to take a shortcut, but when you move away from the designated route there’s a real risk that you could accidentally trample on delicate vegetation, disturb wildlife or even tread on a well-hidden nest. The same applies for cycling – be sure to keep to marked trails for the best experience.
Leave no trace
We all have a responsibility to care for our coast. Be sure to make use of bins and recycling services, or take rubbish home with you. That includes food waste such as banana skins, which can take up to two years to break down! Our coastal habitats are highly vulnerable to wildfires, so please don’t light fires or BBQs unless you are in a designated area.
Follow the canine code
We’re a very dog-friendly coast, and want to make sure you and your pup have the best experience. So check ahead for restrictions, keep your dog under close control, put them on the lead when asked and make sure to clean up after them.
Keep it green
When we picture our perfect day out on the Norfolk Coast, it doesn’t tend to include queuing for the car park. Why not consider taking the train or bus for your next adventure, or trying out one of our region’s many cycle routes?
Plan activities with care
There’s a wide array of adventures on offer in our region, with something to suit all tastes. However, these activities can have an impact on nature, so be sure to choose reputable, sustainable providers to protect wildlife and boost our communities.
